Exposure to a rise in Gulf Coast jet (Platts, grade 54) versus New York Harbor ULSD — aviation kerosene relative to harbor diesel, not a long in “oil”.

What is this?

Gulf jet is aviation kerosene (Platts Jet 54, Gulf Coast pipeline) versus New York Harbor ULSD — two products, two places. The future subtracts the nearby HO settlement: the ticker still says heating oil; the spec is ULSD. This is not jet on its own, nor the same-distillate Gulf–New York up-down.

Airlines and refiners hedge the quality and location gap. The Gulf refines more distillate than it burns; the East Coast is supplied mainly on Colonial.

Pitfalls

  • A spread, not an outright jet.
  • Heat oil = NY ULSD, not residual fuel.
  • Size unverified.
