What is this?

CME XRP is a future on the dollar price of XRP — the XRP Ledger’s native token, not bitcoin and not an equity index. It settles to the CME CF XRP-Dollar Reference Rate: the daily dollar price of one XRP as of 4 p.m. London, built from major spot-exchange trades over a one-hour window. No tokens change hands, and no wallet is required. It is not an ETF, and not a crypto-exchange perpetual.

Managers and funds take listed XRP exposure here, or hedge the price. Thinner than bitcoin.

Pitfalls

  • Not Bitcoin (133741) and not Ether (146021).
  • Not an equity index.
  • Do not add micro XRP (MXP) into this line.
