What is this?

CME Solana is a future on the dollar price of SOL — the Solana blockchain’s token, not an equity index. It settles to the CME CF Solana-Dollar Reference Rate: the daily dollar price of one SOL as of 4 p.m. London, built from major spot-exchange trades over a one-hour window. No tokens change hands, and no wallet is required. It is not an ETF, and not a crypto-exchange perpetual.

Managers and funds take listed Solana exposure here, or hedge the price. The book is thinner than bitcoin.

  • CFTC “SOL” is not an equity index.
  • Not Bitcoin (133741).
  • Do not add micro SOL (MSL) into this line.
