What is FCOJ (frozen concentrated orange juice)?

FCOJ (frozen concentrated orange juice)

Satellite of Coffee C Arabica (ICE US)

A long means…

Exposure to a rise in Grade A frozen concentrated orange juice (FCOJ).

What is this?

FCOJ is USDA Grade A frozen concentrated orange juice, not the NFC carton in the aisle. Delivery is in licensed warehouses in Florida, New Jersey and Delaware; origins are the United States, Brazil, Costa Rica and Mexico, at not less than 62.5 degrees Brix. NFC took retail share from the 1980s, but concentrate remains the industry’s pricing benchmark. Brazil is the world’s largest orange supplier; Florida dominates the US crop, and about 90 percent of it goes to juice.

Growers and concentrate plants hedge inventory; packers and retailers hedge the cost of buying it.

Pitfalls

  • Concentrated solids, not juice gallons.
  • Small book.
  • Not a generic citrus index.
